How Fine Is It? Very, Very, Very!

September 21st, 2005 by OZ

I admit it: I've been slacking in my nonsensical duties since last week. To be fair, I did see it coming since last Monday, which is (shamefully) only two posts below this one. As mentioned just two posts ago, I've been busy digging myself into a cavernous amount of debt -- oh, yeah, and that whole "work" thing has been taking some time, too. But it's all over now!

Actually, it's not so much "all over" as much as "I've passed the first hill." That's a roller coaster reference. Allow me to explain...

I'm sure you've been on those roller coasters where there's that first "hill" where you click-click-click up to the top over a span of about a minute. After passing that peak, you then zip around for a while. Sure, the fun-car itself isn't doing much work at the point, but it's still exciting and somewhat scary. Then, on the good roller coasters, you get a pseudo-reprive as you click-click-click up another hill to do it again before the ride ends.

The analogy I'm attempting to build, weak though it may be, is that actually closing on a house is like that first hill and moving in is like the second. I am proud to say that I'm past the first hill because I closed on my house yesterday!! Yip skip kadoo!!

That's right, "kadoo."

I'm really excited! I'm also really tired. Y'see, I drove in to PA on Monday evening, closed on the house yesterday, and this morning got in my car and drove back to NY (7.5 hours one-way) to get ready for work tomorrow. But despite that rough schedule, here I am updating my blog in part because I've been slacking on the updates and you deserve better, and partly as a means of self-indulgence.

New house!! Yip skip kadoo!!

My house!
Yeah, that's mine... and the bank's.

Today is two days after "Talk Like a Pirate" Day! I had started to work on a post before whisking away to PA. Now you'll have to wait 'til next year for that. Yargh!
